The STAR award (Staff Tribute Administrative Reward) was established in 1986 to recognize
special efforts and contributions to the agency by individuals and groups of staff members. To
qualify for a STAR award the recipient(s) must provide a significant contribution of time and/or
effort on behalf of the agency, which enhances services to the people served or efficiency of
agency operations.
Molly Beecher, a Instructor 2 in the Vocational Services Center, has recently been named a
STAR award recipient by the administrative team. Beecher was nominated by a fellow
employee after putting in extra and long hours at one of the homes whose lead staff had
unexpectedly passed away.
“Following the unexpected death of the lead instructor at one of our homes, Molly picked up
many of the lead responsibilities and continued to run the home in the same efficient manner
that the ladies had come to rely upon with their previous staff,” said Anne McGhee, Residential
Services Director.
“Molly also paid close attention to the emotional needs of the home and brought comfort and a
sense of positive hope for the future to the staff and the individuals served.”
“Molly is very conscientious and dedicated to seeing that all tasks get performed and needs of
our consumers are met. She is always willing to go above and beyond,” said Jean Wuertzer,
Vocational Services Director.
Karla Chapman, Nicole Woods, Michelle Post, Carol Foht, and Keith Watts were also recently
awarded the group STAR award by the administrative team for their hard work, positive
attitudes, and dedication to serving consumers.
“Each of these staff members have taken on more responsibilities to help out where needed,
and they have all rearranged their schedules to accommodate an individual who was ill,” said
Becky Menster, Supervisor/IPC. “Each has gone above and beyond their expected duties for this
stressful time knowing that they were making a difference for all of the individuals.”
Beecher, Chapman, Woods, Post,
Foht, and Watts Receive STAR Award.
